Lillian walked towards the school library, her feet making soft echoing sounds as she walked down the arching hallway. Her pace slowed as she neared the library, and the shape-shifter laid a small hand on the door handle and turned it quietly. Glancing around the silent room with rows upon rows of musty books, Lillian chose a small, two-person table to sit down at. She reached her arm around, pushing her fingers through her left backpack strap and letting the bag fall onto the forearm of her bent right. With a small sigh, she sat down on the cushioned student's chair and leaned over to unzip her bookbag. A wisp of golden-brown hair fell out of her messy bun and in front of her eyes, and Lillian irritably pushed it behind an ear. She pulled out her homework, spreading it across the small table and selecting a page to start on. Lillian's left hand reached for her pencil, tapping it rapidly and softly on her textbook as her turquoise eyes flickered back and forth over the paper. Leaning forward, she printed the answer to the first question in her uniform slanted cursive, before sighing and shuffling the homework aside. Turning to her bookbag once more, Lillian collected her notebook and a few loose leaf papers. She let her gaze wander to the rainy afternoon mist outdoors, focusing on the fuzzy outline of distant pine trees blurred by the white fog. She closed her eyes, and glanced back at her paper and began to work on her most recent song. She was so focused, deep in the music heard only in her mind that she was translating onto paper that she didn't notice the library door open again and someone walk in.

Loki yawned as he pushed through the library door. All of a sudden, the temperature in the room skyrocketed. He whiped a tired tear from his eye and glanced over. He recognized a girl from his house. He walked over to the girl and sat at the opposite chair, smiling. "Hey. Lilly, right?" His grin widened as he began to play with a ball of fire in his pianist's fingers.

Lillian looked sharply up as the table she was working at trembled gently from a chair scraping across the floor. She tried to inconspicuously cover up her work, gathering her music and pulling her potions book closer as if she were making room for Loki. She eyed the fire he was playing with, knowing what his power was, but her eyes jerked back to his face when he spoke. "Lillian." the shape-shifter corrected tersely, her jaw hardening slightly. He has quite some nerve. she thought; most people knew to call her by her full first name if they didn't want to arouse her irritation. Lillian's turquoise eyes flickered back to the fire Loki was handling. And it looks like he's not new to music. she noted, seeing his long fingers with slightly calloused tips. Feeling more inclined to speak than usual, she asked, "Pianist?"

The goth girl sat alone in the darkest corner of the library staring unblinkingly at her notebook. She had come here in hope that there would be few people to disturb her. It wasn't noise that people made that bothered her, it was the overwhelming amount of thoughts. Even here in one of the quietest places in the school her mind was still invaded and filled with thoughts that weren't her own. She squeezed her eyes shut and pressed her fingers to her pounding temple, trying to block out the thoughts, to make them go away, but of course they didn't. She let her hands drop and her green eyes blink open again. She let her notebook fall from her lap and she pulled her legs up to her chest, hugging them to her. She dropped her head and blinked back the tears that filled her eyes.

Wren flew into the old library, coming to a graceful stop at a nearby table. She sat down beside Lillian. "Hey, Lil." She gave a small smile at her friend, and a shyer one at the boy next to Lillian. "Hi Loki." She said in a small voice. The summer god nodded, and a wave of warmth washed over Wren. She quickly stood up and walked briskly over to one of the farthest away bookshelves, where she flew up to the top shelf and plucked a book from the shelf. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a girl with black hair crying at a nearby table, the darkest one in the library. Wren vaguely recognized her as one of the girls in Linton house.... the mind reader. Wren quickly cleared her mind of any excess thoughts, thoughts she didn't need for the moment. She'd get them back. Wren shyly flew over to the crying girl. "Hi. I'm.... Wren." She said very slowly and carefully, but clearly. She tried not to think about what she was saying, but just said it. "What's wrong?" She asked.

Raven looked up at the girl, she looked a little younger than her with brown hair and fierce grey eyes. "Nothing is wrong," She said wiping her eyes quickly erasing the tears that were there. "Why would anything be wrong? I mean why wouldn't everyone want to hear all the thoughts of everyone else?" She quickly leaned over and picked up her fallen notebook shoved it in her black book bag. She got to her feet and began zipping the bag up when the strap snapped and the whole bag fell spilling its contents everywhere. She let out an exasperated sigh and got down on her knees to pick up all her books.

Wren leaned down to help the girl pick up her books. "I know a place that's even quieter than the library." She paused. "You can't hear animal voices, right?" The black haired girl shook her head, and looked at Wren, confused. "I need time to.... reflect sometimes. Want me to take you?" She asked shyly. After a moment of hesitation, the girl nodded slowly. Wren gave a small smile. She handed the girl her books back, and took her hand before flying off out the open window, towards her paradise.

Raven was in shock when the girl flew her out the window. What was she thinking? What if she dropped her, but it was too late to worry about that now, all she could do was hold on to the girl's hand tightly and pray she wouldn't fall. She felt the voices fade away as they flew away from the school and the only mind she could feel was the girl's. She prodded around quickly and learned her name was Wren. It surprised Raven to how kind and quiet even her mind was. Most people's minds were loud and obnoxious, but Wren's it was calm and peaceful.

Wren smiled at the girl. "I'm sorry, but I don't know your name." She said.
"Raven." The black haired girl replied.
What a pretty name. Wren thought.
"Thanks." Raven said. Wren blushed, forgetting for a moment that the girl could read her mind. She flew over the pond, and over the treetops of the forest. She smiled, and dropped down slowly, coming to a stop at a soft, lush ground. She blinked, loving the sound of the water dripping, and the look of the canopy of green.
"Like it?" She asked.

Raven set her bag full of books down and got to her feet, looking around, a small area in the forest. It was brilliant! Why hadn't she thought of that? Oh because it would take her forever to walk. "It's amazing," She whispered. She closed her eyes and reveled at the silence, the only mind was Wren's. For the first time in a year there were no voices pounding her head. A small laugh escaped her throat and she covered her mouth with her hands.

Lillian looked over at Wren as she flew in. "Hey." she replied in response to her best friend's greeting. The shifter hoped Loki wouldn't pick up on the fact that she allowed Wren to call her 'Lil' or 'Lilly' as she pleased, but no one else. It would only make things more complicated. Lillian took the excuse to turn her head back and look at her homework, instead of the summer-god. She scanned over the next question, her eyes moving down to the rows of empty lines waiting to be filled with an answer she didn't know. With a quiet sigh, the shape-shifter placed her pencil down and leafed backwards through the reading, her cheekbone resting on the palm of her right hand. After a few seconds, Lillian paused. She couldn't concentrate, not with the sheets of music tucked halfway under her binder, and especially not with this fire-playing male sitting across from her whom, though she'd never admit it, she found mildly attractive. Most girls do. she told herself curtly, remembering the times she'd seen Loki with several following him. Biting her lower lip, Lillian re-focused her gaze on the papers in front of her and absent-mindedly twirled her pencil a few times in attempt to concentrate.
[OOC: Loki, how about you persist in calling Lillian 'Lilly or Lil' or something, and she tries really hard to get mad about it but can't really...]

"I used to play. Not well. But... that stopped when I... left." Loki grinned despite his pauses. He let the fire turn into a rose, then a tiny cat that played around his fingers. "Lily, wanna make a bet?"

Lillian looked up despite herself, and wondered how well he really played, as she wasn't yet sure of his modesty. Her blue-green eyes watched the transformation of the flame with some interest that she tried not to show, but flickered back to his face when he spoke for the second time. "It's Lillian" she corrected again, mild annoyance lighting in her gaze. The shape-shifter paused before answering Loki's question, trying to kindle more of the irritation she normally felt when someone other than Wren called her Lilly. Is he deaf? Lillan wondered crossly before asking, not without a hint of curiosity, "What bet?"

"If I can get three people to say they like my piano playing, you show me those songs you've stowed under your binder." Loki grinned, got playing games was fun "Will you take it, Lil?" He closed his fingers around the ball of fire and it went out.

Lillian raised her eyebrows a little, the beginnings of a smile pulling at her lips. It quickly vanished, however, when Loki neglected to pronounce the 'lian' half of her name. Who did he think he was, this ever smiling ex-pianist that she hardly knew? He really did have some nerve. They way he ignored her - it made Lillian believe that he really hadn't heard anything, that she hadn't once mentioned it to the extent that she had to remind herself that his power was control of fire, not mind or memory. And yet, despite having thrice been called the name she reserved for Wren and Wren only, she didn't feel the usual irritated anger she was used to. This on its own made Lillian uneasy, unsure if fire-play and such related things were Loki's only powers. But what utterly confused the shape-shifter was that she almost liked his boldness, his utter refusal to stay on the same 'level' as other people and to enter her world through a forbidden door. Putting her thoughts aside, Lillian resolved to sort through them later. "Three?" she commented, resting the back of her jaw on her left hand. She weighed the chances, again puzzled at her readiness to risk her music to the eyes of another. "But you can't ask them to tell you they like your playing. And they can't be new to music." Lillian paused, her mouth half open. Her mind tugged it closed, but her conscience told her that this was something that needed to be said. "Also, only if you call me Lillian."
