"Hmm, maybe..." Loki's eyes flashed with laughter and mischeif as they often did "If I win, I call you a nickname, if you win, I call you Lillian."

Lillian removed her hand from her cheek, tucking a loose piece of golden-brown hair behind an ear in thought. He seems too confident. she reasoned, but then again, has far as she'd known him in these past five minutes, he's always seemed too confident. "And, if I win, do I get anything else? You see my music and call me a nickname..." She trailed off, her blue-green eyes lowering as she lost herself to thought once more. Lillian realized what she was betting to this semi-stranger, and she wondered what Wren would think. This would be an excuse, though; an excuse for him to call me something other than my full first name. A reason for me not to correct him and get mad every time he did so. And shouldn't this be a bad thing? The shifter took a slow breath, feeling a tremor of something as she let it out - Surprise? Confusion? Or just the fear that maybe, deep down, that what the bet offered was exactly what she wanted?

"Pick another thing. The stakes have to be even." Loki grinned, even if he was a trickster he could be fair. He brushed a bit of his spikey hair from his eyes and turned his violet eyes on the girl "Anything you'd like." The player in him was acting up, he knew it too. He liked his eyes, they were just so... irresistable.

Lillian tilted her head slightly, thinking. Anything? she thought, unsure of what she would possible want from Loki. She liked his company, she had to admit to herself despite of what her conscience thought of him. Maybe... "You take up piano again." she decided impulsively, unable to think of anything else. "I have some songs that I wrote for cello and piano, so maybe you could play those." Lillian's hand twitched instinctively to cover her mouth, a habit she had before her death when she said something she shouldn't have. Well, now he knows I wrote those, though he probably already guessed it. she thought, glancing down at the half-hidden sheets of music. Then something else dawned on her, and she felt like gagging as she realized that Loki might see this as an invitation to play with her, piano and cello... which, to Lillian's horrification, was probably what her subconscious mind had intended.

"Fine, but I'm going to win." His smile had taken a blow, he hadn't played in a while...
~~In the Music Room with a few students for audience~~
Loki sat slowly in front of the piano. I'll do three songs I think. He thought as his fingers began to fall into the flight of a song he'd recently learned of some sheet music he found. Some anime song called Eternal Snow. He fell into the english lyrics along with the piano. " I'm falling in love with you, and which will come to pass? Will the feeling do nothing but swell, Or will you notice it
Even though i've never said anything? Like snow, but quietlyit continues to pile up Chorus: Hold me tight if I think like thisi didn't want to know What it was like to fall in love with someone I love you; my tears won't stoptherefore, I should be free of you
How long will I keep thinking of you? My sigh makes the window glass fog up
Now, a burning candle Can't melt my shaking heart anymore?
Hold me tight, strong enough to break me If we meet in a biting cold blizzardi won't feel cold, Andi miss you everytime I think of you This scarf that I knit for youi'm holding it alone tonight If there were an eternally falling snow This feeling I have for you, could I hide it? Hold me tight if I think like thisi didn't want to know What it was like to fall in love with someone I love you; my chest fills up I want to cry out to the winter sky, want to see you now "
His voice, though the song was ment for a girl to sing, melded perfectly with the piano as his fingers danced.

Lillian packed her books, returning to her room soon after Loki left the library. She sighed, turning to open a bulging folder in which she kept her compositions. She leafed through a few, mostly for the cello, and found a couple pieces she had written for some accompaniment. There were a couple that were for different instruments entirely, but the one for piano without cello wasn't that good. She selected three, gently closed her folder and packed the sheets in her bag. With a sigh, the shifter turned to leave for the music room. She passed by the mirror, turned, and tugged out the hair band holding her bun together. Lillian tugged out a few knots with her fingers, letting the golden locks streaked with a darker, almost brown color fall to the middle of her back. Her hair was weird; it was straight down to her shoulders and then suddenly began to twist in very loose curls from thereafter. After a pause, she turned for the door again and headed to the music room.
-------
Lillian opened the door quietly, seeing a few students turn their heads and Loki sitting down at the piano. I don't play well. he'd said. Well, she would see for herself what 'not well' was to him. This was a stupid bet, she knew, but something had compelled her to take it anyways. She hoped Wren wouldn't be angry with her for the results. Lillian sat down just as Loki began playing, her eyes fixed on his hands as they danced around the keys. She looked up at his face in surprise when he began to sing as well. The shifter stared, letting herself enjoy the echoing sounds of the piano melted into Loki's voice. When it ended, she surfaced back to reality. Not well. she thought with attempted bitterness. HaHa.

Loki glided smoothly from Eternal Snow to Daughtry's What About Now? He sung this one with more vigor as it was one he'd practiced;
"Shadows fill an empty heart As love is fading, From all the things that we are But are not saying. Can we see beyond the stars And make it to the dawn?
Change the colors of the sky. And open up to The ways you made me feel alive, The ways I loved you. For all the things that never died, To make it through the night, Love will find you.
What about now? What about today? What if you're making me all that I was meant to be? What if our love never went away? What if it's lost behind words we could never find? Baby, before it's too late, What about now?
The sun is breaking in your eyes To start a new day. This broken heart can still survive With a touch of your grace. Shadows fade into the light. I am by your side, Where love will find you.
What about now? What about today? What if you're making me all that I was meant to be? What if our love, it never went away? What if it's lost behind words we could never find? Baby, before it's too late, What about now?
Now that we're here, Now that we've come this far, Just hold on. There is nothing to fear, For I am right beside you. For all my life, I am yours.
What about now? What about today? What if you're making me all that I was meant to be? What if our love never went away? What if it's lost behind words we could never find?
What about now? What about today? What if you're making me all that I was meant to be? What if our love never went away? What if it's lost behind words we could never find? Baby, before it's too late, Baby, before it's too late, Baby, before it's too late, What about now?"
(seriously, look the piano version of that one up. It's amazing)

(okay)
Lillian sighed quietly as Loki finished his second song; there was no way he wouldn't be able to get three people to say he was a good pianist. She opened her bookbag, withdrawing the four pages of music she'd been working on earlier, and prepared to relinquish her nicknames to his tongue. Oddly, she didn't feel too disappointed, and he hadn't failed to impress her with his music. Lillian couldn't understand why he doesn't play anymore, and considered trying to persuade him to take it on again even though she had lost the bet.

Next up, the last one... More Daughtry? No. Elton John? Not right. Then Innocent Venus. Yes. This one had no words, but he'd have to play the part of two people. He started of, his hands working so fast they were blurrs to play the part of four hands, then slowed as the peice narrowed to three hands' roles, then to two. Then the collapse, a crechendo and silence.
() Short, but difficult for one player.

Lillian clapped, as hard as she could without making a fool of herself. She felt herself almost grinning, and said, "I'll count as one of the three. You play a lot better than not-so-well, Loki."
[Sorry for the super-short post, I'm low on muse for this one.]

(No problem, I'm coming short too)
Loki smiled, as a few other girls came up and called his playing good. "Okay Lily, let's see that music." He grinned.

Lillian almost opened her mouth to correct him, and remembered that he now could call her what he wanted. It was weird, but the shape-shifter set down her bag, opened it, and rummaged for the music while Loki received more praise, and the small audience gradually filed out of the room. "Okay, here." she said, handing the four loose sheets to him. "It's not done yet." she added, fiddling with a lock of her hair as she let, again for the first time, someone other than Wren to look at her music. "It's only cello now, but I might add a piano part if you decide to practice again." Lillian commented. And I'm talking more than usual too. Why does he make you so different? You would never have done this with someone else, right? she thought with a hard feeling in her stomach, one she couldn't quite classify.

Loki looked over the music carefully, his eyes lighting up as he played it through his head. Every set of notes different and sweet as if plastered with honey. "I like it." He said "I like it alot."

Lillian smiled, warmth melting her uncertainties. "Thanks." she replied, and after some hesitation, added, "Why'd you stop playing? I loved the cello when I was... alive - well, before I died, and I still love it now."

"Because of... of her." Loki's smile took one more blow, looked like a perminant one too. The once sizzling temperature in the room took a nose dive.
